Mud Lake Pottery, Etc.
This is my very first blog. Mud Lake Pottery is pretty self-evident, but some of you will be wondering what the Etc. is about. No only do I make wood fired pottery I am also an amatuer astronomer and will from time to time be posting some of my favorite things I image from my backyard. I used to have a wood fired kiln that I did cone 10 reduction fired pottery in before we moved out into a more rural setting. But, right now the replacement kiln is little more than a hole in the ground waiting for some crushed stone as a base and a concrete pad to build the kiln on. We have about 5" (12.5cm) of snow on the ground just now and before that we had standing water from all rain we have received. So things have come to a crashing halt for the time being.
I primarily work in stoneware but also from time to time play with some porcelain and lately I have been thinking of adding some stoneware body to the porcelain to get some more flashing going on.
